When I come to Union Market by transit, I take the Red Line to NoMa-Gallaudet U. It's about an 11-minute walk, and I exit toward Florida Ave NE and 4th or 5th St NE. Metrobus routes C53, C71, D34, D36 and C57 stop near the market, and the stop at Florida Ave NE and 5th St NE is about 5 minutes away. Union Station is a little over a mile away and has Amtrak and regional rail, including MARC and the VRE Manassas Line.
If I'm on a bike, the Metropolitan Branch Trail connects at NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro and runs 8 miles to Silver Spring. There's also a Capital Bikeshare station at Gallaudet University, at 8th St NE and Florida Ave NE. If I'm driving, US-50 (New York Ave NE) is just north and I-395 is a quick connection to the west. Nearby lots and garages give 3 hours of free parking, then $10 an hour, and the surface lot entrance is on 6th St NE.
My day here runs from a morning coffee to a late dinner, depending on what's happening. And there is always something happening in Union Market!
